Intermittent fasting has become one of the most talked-about approaches to health and nutrition – but what does the science actually say, particularly when it comes to gut health and metabolism?
Join experienced Registered Nutritionist Elaine Povey for an insightful and evidence-based session that explores how when we eat can be just as important as what we eat. This engaging workshop will unpack the relationship between meal timing, digestive health, and metabolic function, helping you better understand the potential benefits – and limitations – of intermittent fasting.
Through clear explanations and practical insights, Elaine will guide you through the current research, separating fact from fiction and helping you make informed decisions about whether this approach may be relevant for you or those you support.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
• Describe the different types of intermittent fasting and how they are commonly practiced
• Understand the impact of fasting on gut health, digestion, and metabolic processes
• Identify which groups of people may benefit from intermittent fasting, and those for whom it may not be appropriate
• Explain why intermittent fasting can support weight maintenance or weight loss for some individuals, compared to traditional calorie-restricted diets
This session is ideal for anyone with an interest in nutrition, wellbeing, or behaviour change, and will provide a balanced, science-led perspective on a popular topic.
