This workshop will focus on how to control high blood pressure (hypertension) by changes in lifestyle, exercise, stress management, and diet.
We will cover:
• 6 simple changes to our lifestyle which can help to control the effects of high blood pressure
• Describe in detail the differences between the TWO diets which are evidence based and proven to help improve this health condition
• Where salt or sodium comes from in our diet and how to read labels and adapt recipes
• How to increase the important mineral in our diet which is essential in combating the effects of high sodium levels in the Western diet
• The exercise and lifestyle choices which can improve hypertension
The older we get, the risks of developing high blood pressure increases because our blood vessels don’t stretch as well anymore. There is nothing we can do to stop our bodies aging but there are plenty of other lifestyle changes we can make including improving our diet that can help to control our blood pressure together with other lifestyle changes.
In this nutrition workshop, which is interactive and engaging, we hear from our Registered Nutritionist, Elaine Povey, with over twenty-five years’ experience of working in nutrition and dietetics.
