truth-telling retreat

The journey back to self at Champneys. A day to nourish body, mind, and soul – a three-hour workshop on the truth of who you are.

Wellness can be a busy, beautiful marketplace – alive with promise, persuasion, and performance. Who Am I? is an invitation to return to truth – the one that is uniquely yours.

In a culture that prizes progress, wellness too has become an arena for striving. Amid the noise of doing, improving, and the pressure to appear well, we lose touch with the quiet capacities that once came naturally to us. Perception. Discernment. Intuition.

Who Am I? is a gentle workshop in truth-telling – an antidote to burnout and busyness. Through contemplative enquiry and communication, you’ll learn how to come into contact with the deepest parts of yourself and speak from direct experience.

Drawing on the contemplative methods of Charles Berner, whose Enlightenment Intensives have run worldwide since 1968, Tina shares a simple, secular practice for opening to truth – one that complements any spiritual, religious, or wellness tradition.

The practice restores clarity and coherence bringing mind and life back into alignment – a gentle harmony between being and doing.

Clarity of Mind – As the mind stops defending or editing, it begins to rest. Clarity emerges where confusion once lived.

Emotional Lightness – Truth softens tension; it releases what the body holds. Many describe a sense of calm spaciousness.

Authentic Connection – Honest dialogue deepens trust and presence, allowing relationships to feel effortless and real.

Inner Alignment – When thought, word, and action harmonise, energy once spent on performance becomes peace.

Lasting Calm – With practice, truth-telling becomes a daily compass – steadying, restorative, and profoundly human.

Why it matters

Research in psychology and neuroscience links emotional honesty to reduced stress, improved immune function, and stronger relationships. Yet its deeper value is timeless: truth-telling reconnects us to our own integrity – the original source of wellbeing.

what you'll experience

The Principles of Enquiry and Connection

This practice draws on the traditions of contemplative enquiry and dyad communication – simple yet powerful methods for experiencing truth directly, without interpretation or debate. Each principle is designed to create a space where honesty, presence, and trust can flourish.

Speak the Truth – Share what is real for you in this moment; no more, no less.

Listen Without Interruption – Receive another’s words in silence, without comment or evaluation.

Do Not Analyse or Advise – The intention is presence, not problem-solving.

Refrain from Gossip – What is spoken in confidence remains sacred.

Stay with Experience – If emotion arises, let it move through you. Truth is not a story, but a living process.

Return to Attention – When the mind wanders, gently come back to your breath, your partner, this moment.

Why it matters

These principles create a rare kind of practice – one that transcends performance and opinion. They teach the art of being fully present with another human being, and with oneself.

Together they cultivate moral witnessing – a way of seeing and being seen that restores ethics, respect, and reverence to the simple act of communication.
