UK Spa Resorts & Hotels with a Spa

Six elegant countryside locations, each one unique
There’s no better way to unwind, recharge, revitalise or spend cherished time with loved ones than at a luxury spa. At Champneys, we’ve got two types of spa location that cater for every preference and activity you enjoy: spa resorts and spa hotels.
Here, we’ll explain the difference between our spa resorts and spa hotels, showcase the six Champneys locations across the UK, and highlight what you can look forward to on your next visit.

What is a spa resort?

Champneys spa resorts

A spa resort is typically a countryside location packed with facilities that are primarily centred on health and wellbeing. They combine gym and leisure facilities, massages and treatments, swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, and a range of other activities to explore and enjoy.
At Champneys, we’re proud to operate four of the most luxurious spa resorts in the UK: Tring, Forest Mere, Henlow Grange and Springs. All four are home to innovative and world-class treatments, cosy relaxation areas, show-stopping swimming pools, high-tech thermal experiences, nutritionist-approved menus, and spa retreats to nourish you from the inside out and bring you back to your best.

Tring, Hertfordshire

Champneys Tring in the rolling Hertfordshire hills has been pioneering and perfecting health and wellbeing treatments since 1925. Close enough to London to be reachable, but far enough away to be peaceful, it’s full of modern and traditional treatments, as well as the unique Marine and Wellness Spa.

Forest Mere, Hampshire

Tucked away in the beautiful South Downs in Hampshire is Champneys Forest Mere, the perfect blend of spa resort and countryside hideaway. State-of-the-art facilities and a range of thermal spa treatments include an outdoor pool and warm, snuggly spaces, far from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Henlow Grange, Bedfordshire

Downton Abbey isn’t a spa resort - but Champneys Henlow, our gorgeous Georgian manor in Bedfordshire, is as close as you’ll ever get. World class spa facilities, 40 treatment rooms, 20 exercise classes a day, and tennis and badminton courts make this a resort with something for everyone.

Springs, Leicestershire

Near Ashby-de-la-Zouch in the heart of the Midlands, Champneys Springs is the UK’s first purpose-built health spa. It’s the sportiest of our locations and its pitches and training facilities are often used by the pros, but it’s backed with pampering treatments and spaces to relax, too.

What is a spa hotel?

Champneys spa hotels

A spa hotel combines all the luxurious facilities and treatments of a spa with top-quality accommodation and dining. They’re the perfect destination for overnight stays and weekends away, where you can feel spoiled and pampered by day, wined and dined by night, and refreshed and recharged the next morning.
There are two Champneys luxury spa hotels, Eastwell Manor and Mottram Hall. Both feature elegant interiors, gourmet dining, glamorous bars with extensive cocktail and wine lists, afternoon tea, and a Champneys spa for that all-important relaxation.

Eastwell Manor, Kent

Champneys Eastwell Manor is a picture-postcard spa hotel, ideal for a countryside break in the Garden of England. A break here gives you access to health and beauty treatments, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, gym, sauna, nature trails and top-class dining in our brasserie.

Mottram Hall, Cheshire

Champneys Mottram Hall in Cheshire is a Grade II listed building, set in 270 acres of landscaped gardens and equipped with £15 million of spa facilities and features. You’ll also find an 18-hole championship golf course, a cutting-edge gym, and a range of delicious food and drink options throughout the day.

What to pack for a spa break

What to bring to a Champneys spa resort or hotel

Well, for starters, don’t worry about a robe or flip-flops: we’ll provide those for you. What else you bring with you to a Champneys spa resort or spa hotel depends on the activities you have in mind.
If you’re planning on using the gym, the swimming pool, or the sauna and steam room facilities, then make sure you bring appropriate gymwear and swimwear with you. Because we want to ensure everybody gets a luxury experience from start to finish, our dinner dress code in our restaurants is smart-casual.

What's it like to be at a spa resort or hotel?

The Champneys experience

Whether you visit a Champneys spa resort or hotel, your relaxation and enjoyment are top priority from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. It all starts at check-in, when we’ll give you your own robe and flip-flops to wear throughout your stay, so that you can feel comfortable straight away.
If you’re staying overnight, including if you’re joining us for one of our spa retreats, you can drop your bags into your room and unpack. Then, in your own time, then get to know your surroundings. You’ll be free to explore the gym, spa and leisure facilities around your chosen location, and book yourself in for a massage, facial or specialist treatment (subject to availability).

In the evenings, you’ll join us in our top-class restaurant for a sumptuous three-course meal, and by night you can retire to a soft, comfortable bed for a calm and restorative sleep.
