In support of BBC Children in Need and The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Champneys will be hosting its Hike, Bike, Trike Challenge on Saturday 8th October at our resort in Tring.

Joined by The One Show and Countryfile presenter Matt Baker and a host of our celebrity friends, participants will pedal and walk their way to raising much needed funds for charity.

Committed to making a difference, we’ve challenged a collection of celebs and key national and local businesses to take part in our 10-mile Hike, Bike, Trike Challenge - with the money raised split between BBC Children in Need and The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Teams of five will bike or trike (rickshaw) for two miles to a designated location set within the beautiful Tring countryside, before taking part in a six-mile hike. The teams will then cycle back to the resort.

The challenge is as serious as participants want and suitable for beginners, experts and everyone in between. For the more competitive of our entrants, there will be prizes for the most funds raised.

Of course, Matt Baker is no stranger to a three-wheeled vehicle, having helped raise more than £12 million for BBC Children In Need since 2011 via The One Show’s Rickshaw Challenge. Last year, he led the team that covered a 470-mile journey from Land’s End to the East End.

Once back at Champneys Tring, Matt, Pudsey Bear and co. will join guests for an afternoon and early evening of family fun and entertainment (from 1.30pm).

To soothe any aching muscles, we’ll be offering a healthy slice of pampering with our rejuvenating Beauty Emporium – which will be expertly staffed by our Champneys therapists.

Entertainment will include a brass band, live music, celebrity guests, fitness demos, fashion shows, luxury sports cars, gourmet food stations and vintage fairground games. For our younger guests we’ll have face painting, magic shows, football skills school, donkey rides, assault courses and cake decorating – plus much more besides.

Tickets are now available to the general public (adults £25, children £15), which include one meal voucher and unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks.

Stephen Purdew, Champneys Owner said: “The day will be a lot of fun, and a great way to help make a difference to so many lives. Champneys are proud to be supporting two very worthy charities and we know that the money that raised will go a long way.

“There will be something for everyone, it will be a day for the whole family. It will be a challenge for the participants, but they will be challenging themselves for something very positive. BBC Children in Need have had a positive impact on the lives of so many – but they need our continued support.

“Champneys has a connection to The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, our staff and guests have already done so well in raising money from previous activities at our resorts. But we’re challenging them again. This time we want to raise even more. In advance, I would like to thank all of those that are involved for their support and generosity.”
