Champneys supports Help for Heroes
Champneys owners Dorothy and Stephen Purdew are delighted to announce that this autumn 200 members of the Help for Heroes Band of Sisters will be staying for two nights as their guests at their countryside health spas.
Stephen Purdew comments, “My family and I are delighted to be able to support some wonderful charitable causes throughout the year and are looking forward to welcoming our Band of Sisters guests as part of our first charity campaign with Help for Heroes. They believe that any serviceman or woman who suffers life changing injuries in the line of duty deserves the very best support for life.
Their philosophy of focusing on the positives – on abilities, not disabilities – is reflected in our way of thinking at Champneys as we help our guests to have complete wellbeing so it was a natural fit to extend our support. Help for Heroes Band of Sisters are the close family members of those who have sustained career limiting/ending injuries or illness during or attributable to service. We hope the Band of Sisters enjoy the opportunity to relax, be pampered and chat with other people in the network.”
Band of Sisters’ member Sarah Bennett adds, “I was over the moon when I found out that Champneys were offering a pamper break to the Help for Heroes Band of Sisters and that I was actually lucky enough to get a place. It is a dream come true - this is my way of getting away from it all!
My husband was injured in Afghanistan and suffered a traumatic brain injury, and is currently on a recovery programme. It has been very tough on our family and turned our world upside down. Having Help for Heroes and being part of the support network through Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters has been a saviour for us and receiving treats such as this along the way is so important. It helps us to "forget" just for a moment knowing that someone actually cares. For me personally, I am so grateful for everything that Help for Heroes provides, and for the support of others – like Champneys – that we have been lucky enough to receive.”
Bryn and Emma Parry, Co-Founders of Help for Heroes conclude, “We’d like to thank Champneys for generously providing these respite breaks for members of the Band of Sisters. Not only will everyone who attends have a great time, but they will also be making a huge difference to the lives of some very brave people who support our heroes and are often the unsung heroes in the story. The war in Afghanistan may be nearly over but for many members of the Armed Forces and their families their battles are just beginning. We won't let them battle alone.”
