After taking a medical history and an examination of tongue and pulses, the treatment typically starts with tuina, and then acupuncture and hypnotherapy occurs simultaneously. Tuina and Acupuncture are two of the three components of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In TCM the organs mostly affected with weight issues are the stomach and spleen – the “Earth” element. Ideally within one’s body, energy should flow like a clear stream, with weight issues energy can become sluggish or “damp”. That is why tiredness, bloating and water retention can be typical symptoms. The emotions associated with the Earth element are worry, anxiety and over-thinking, this is why some people may comfort eat.
