Hellerwork is a form of deep tissue bodywork designed to realign and rebalance the body, releasing chronic tension and stress and producing a more relaxed, youthful state. In our modern lives we are all subject to occupational stress; most notably from the inordinate amount of sitting that we do. Think about it - you sit to work, you sit to travel, you sit to eat, watch T.V, you sit, sit, sit! Was the human body designed to sit? No! it evolved to walk, run, squat and occasionally lie down. The sedentary (sitting) nature of our lives causes huge problems from Repetitive Strain Injury to neck & shoulder problems, back aches, headaches, eye strain and so on. More active people may have other issues - musicians, sportspeople, actors and singers often find this sort of work makes a massive impact on their performance and success, restoring balance & ease and symmetry. Working on a very low surface & using knuckles, forearms and elbows, the practitioner works with the part of the connective tissues knows as the fascias, the wrappings that envelop every muscle, bone and tendon, to reduce the chronic, longstanding tension that has built up and allow the body to return to a more harmonious overall shape. work is done at the end of a session with the client in a sitting position.
